Senior GCP Data Engineer
Job Description
Vertage offers a hybrid role based in the United States with 4 days per week onsite, focused on building and operating an Enterprise Data Platform on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This position emphasizes practical ownership of scalable data pipelines, cost-aware operations, and strong governance so your work can support reliable, secure analytics at scale.
What you’ll do
- Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines across a GCP environment
- Develop and integrate solutions using GCP native technologies such as BigQuery, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub
- Ensure data governance, security, and optimal performance across the data platform
- Troubleshoot complex issues spanning the data platform and microservices
- Monitor and optimize cost and compute resources for workloads running on GCP technologies
Core technologies you’ll work with
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including BigQuery, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub (also listed: DataProc)
- SQL, Java, and Python
- Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and microservices
- Databases and data stores such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL, and columnar databases
- Data governance frameworks, data encryption, and data masking techniques
- CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform (plus Tekton and automation frameworks)
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 7 years of experience in Data Engineering or Software Engineering
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience building and deploying cloud-based data platforms with GCP
- English with professional working proficiency

- Experience with automation frameworks

Compensation: USD 75 to 80 per hour.
Work setup: Hybrid in the United States with 4 days per week onsite.
