Senior Data Engineer (APIs for Data Platform)
Job Description
Senior Data Engineer focused on API design for a data platform, delivering scalable RESTful and GraphQL services in a 100% remote role.
Responsibilities
- Create and sustain RESTful and GraphQL APIs to support scalable, high‑performance applications.
- Collaborate with data engineers and software teams to enable seamless API data pipeline integrations with web applications.
- Build and maintain applications using Java Spring Boot, Hibernate, Python FastAPI, and ReactJS.
- Ensure scalability, security, and reliability by applying best practices for multi‑threading, concurrency, and microservices architecture.
- Influence architectural decisions to optimize performance across application, data, and infrastructure layers.
- Develop and deploy solutions on Azure, leveraging SQL Server, Redis, App Services, and API Management.
- Develop and maintain test automation frameworks to validate data quality and service reliability.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative team environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, or related discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
- 7+ years of software development experience in Big Data.
- 7+ years of experience with modern programming languages such as Java and Java‑based frameworks (Spring, Maven), plus Python.
- 3+ years of web development experience using ReactJS and TypeScript.
- 3+ years of experience across application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines.
- 3+ years of experience with multi‑threading, concurrency, and highly scalable microservices and REST services.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to build meaningful relationships within cross‑functional teams.
- Extensive experience with message driven patterns such as Service Bus, Kafka, Tibco, EMS, and MQ.

Compensation
- USD 35.00 - 40.00 per hour
Work Location
- Remote; 100% remote role. Offshore candidates are acceptable if you can work UK hours.
