Job Description

Optum is seeking a Senior Data Engineer in Eden Prairie, Minnesota with remote work options. This role centers on designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise ETL pipelines for Medicaid analytics and the enterprise data warehouse, leveraging Azure, Python, Spark, and related cloud data technologies. The position offers a yearly salary range of USD 91,700 to 163,700 and requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, implement, and maintain enterprise ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Informatica PowerCenter, and Python‑based frameworks.
  • Develop and optimize scalable data processing workflows with Python, Apache Spark, and Databricks.
  • Support Medicaid analytics and federal reporting initiatives such as T-MSIS, PERM, MARS, and Quality of Care.
  • Design robust data validation, reconciliation, and auditable data pipelines.
  • Write and optimize SQL and stored procedures across Snowflake, Oracle, and SQL Server.
  • Contribute to cloud migration and modernization efforts within Azure‑centric architectures.
  • Collaborate with analysts, QA, and reporting teams to ensure data quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Adhere to data engineering best practices for performance, reliability, reusability, and security.
  • Support production operations, incident resolution, and root cause analysis.
  • Participate in code reviews and source control activities, leveraging CI/CD processes with Azure DevOps and GitHub.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of data engineering experience focused on enterprise data warehousing.
  • Over five years of hands‑on ETL development with Informatica PowerCenter, Azure Data Factory, or equivalent tools.
  • More than five years of Python development for data engineering and automation tasks.
  • At least five years of Teradata experience.
  • Three or more years using Spark‑based processing frameworks such as Databricks.
  • Strong SQL proficiency with relational databases including Snowflake, Oracle, and SQL Server.
  • Experience with source control and DevOps practices using Azure DevOps and GitHub, including CI/CD.
  • Proven analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to travel periodically based on project or client needs.
