Job Description

Work onsite in Houston, TX at Persona AI Inc, partnering with the Machine Learning team to advance humanoid robotics for heavy industry. In this full-time role, you will help build and operationalize ML that supports manipulation, navigation, locomotion, and perception, reporting to the Head of Machine Learning.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on the design and development of the Persona ML software stack and support its application across manipulation, navigation, locomotion, and perception.
  • Work with the ML team to craft and execute a comprehensive plan for machine learning model development, staying current with state of the art research and R&D.
  • Develop, test, and deploy software, machine learning pipelines, and data collection pipelines.
  • Monitor and evaluate model performance in real-world settings.
  • Collaborate with Universities and other companies.
  • Contribute to attracting, nurturing, and growing the machine learning and autonomy teams.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in machine learning applied to robotics.
  • Courage and grit to tackle some of the hardest problems in embodied AI.
  • Enthusiasm for collaborative work in a high-paced team environment.
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks including PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow (or equivalent).
  • Experience with cloud computing for developing models and storing data (including AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Strong understanding of state of the art robot learning research, including behavior cloning for manipulation, reinforcement learning for locomotion, and world models.
  • Understanding of the challenges of deploying neural network models in the real world.
  • Experience deploying both traditional and learning-based approaches for robotics.
  • Ability to write high-quality software.
  • Ability to thrive in fast paced and ambiguous environments.
  • Strong first principles thinking.

Bonus skills

  • Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in computer science, robotics, machine learning, or a related field.
  • Published papers at top ML/Robotics conferences: ICML, ICRA, CoRL, RSS, NeurIPS.
  • Experience deploying robots, collecting large amounts of data, and training large neural networks that work in production environments.
