Robot Software Engineer Technical Lead

Onward Robotics is seeking a Robot Software Engineer Technical Lead to guide the software development efforts that power advanced autonomous systems. The role, based in Pittsburgh with remote work flexibility, focuses on steering projects from concept through deployment, defining system requirements, shaping architecture, and delivering robust robotics solutions in collaboration with engineers and technicians.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end development and rollout of robotics initiatives, from initial concept through field deployment.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians to implement integrated solutions.
• Apply deep robotics engineering expertise across hardware, software, sensors, and control systems to drive project success.
• Capture system requirements, architect robust solutions, and design robotics software tailored to project needs.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mechatronics or Robotics Engineering
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in autonomous robotics system development and deployment
• Proficiency with Python and C++
• Experience with the Robot Operating System (ROS)
• Strong knowledge of robotics principles including kinematics, dynamics, perception, SLAM, sensor fusion, state estimation, control, navigation, path planning, and obstacle avoidance
