Research Software Engineer, Calibration

You will join the MQS Center of Quantum Computing in San Francisco as a Research Software Engineer focused on calibration software for quantum devices. This onsite role combines building Python APIs, data-analysis pipelines, dashboards, and scalable cloud infrastructure to accelerate experimental workflows. The compensation range is USD 192,200 to 260,000 per year, with sign-on payments and restricted stock units as part of the package. Responsibilities

• Architect extensible and intuitive frameworks for running quantum computing experiments and analyzing data
• Apply the latest calibration techniques to enable scaling to larger devices
• Optimize performance of experiment and analysis tools to increase throughput
• Develop dashboards enabling experimentalists to inspect and control quantum device calibration
• Deploy and maintain cloud infrastructure that supports increasingly complex science workflows
• Mentor colleagues and document practices to empower scientists to contribute to the codebase

Requirements

• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
• Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• PhD or 6+ years of applied research experience
• Experience working with scientists in a research environment
• 1+ years of experience with calibration for experimental quantum computing
