Principal Machine Learning Engineer

The Principal Machine Learning Engineer role at Atlassian is a senior technical leadership position focused on shaping long-term systems and technical direction across multiple quarters, with sustained involvement in architecture, experimentation, quality, and production operations.

Responsibilities

• Set systems and technical direction across multiple quarters while staying close to architecture, experimentation, quality, and production systems.
• Partner across model post-training work, personalization and recommendation, and proactive or other agentic experiences.
• Drive end-to-end execution on ambiguous problems, including defining an approach, aligning partners, driving delivery, and integrating solutions into production safely.

Location and Work Model

This position is based in Seattle, WA (onsite). Atlassians can choose where they work, including office, home, or a combination of both. Atlassian can also hire in any country where it has a legal entity.

Base pay is set within the applicable range based on each candidate’s skills, knowledge, and experience, using consistent hiring practices. Pay Ranges (United States)

Atlassian uses three geographic pay zones in the United States. Current base pay ranges for new hires by zone are:

• Zone A: $236,700 - $309,025
• Zone B: $213,030 - $278,123
• Zone C: $196,461 - $256,491
