Principal Machine Learning Engineer

iHerb seeks a Principal Machine Learning Engineer to guide the design and deployment of scalable ML systems and platforms, collaborating with data scientists, applied scientists, and software engineers to deliver predictive models that impact millions of users and enhance customer experience.

Salary

Annual salary range: USD 205,000 to 230,000

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Data Platform team to share best practices in both directions
• Implement standard patterns and create abstractions across ML pipelines to streamline the lifecycle from business problem definition to production deployment
• Build software using object oriented design and analysis principles with attention to reducing technical debt and maintaining high availability
• Participate in requirements reviews, design reviews, and code reviews
• Research and prototype new technologies to support rapid business growth
• Engage cross-functionally with diverse technical teams and collaborate with data and applied scientists to identify platform improvement opportunities at iHerb

Requirements

• Strong programming experience with languages such as Java, C#, or Python
• Experience gathering data from multiple sources using big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop, BigQuery, Athena, etc.)
• Experience building ML infrastructure following robust software engineering practices
• Knowledge of modern software development tools and practices (design patterns, CI/CD, Git, unit testing, smoke testing, integration testing, job schedulers, cloud technologies like AWS Lambda and Google Functions, etc.)
• Exposure to all aspects of the software development life cycle
• Experience with messaging technologies (Kafka, Google Pub/Sub, Kinesis, RabbitMQ, etc.)
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Excellent organization skills and ability to multitask
