Oracle Database Administrator (Data Engineer)

Navy Federal Credit Union is seeking an Oracle Database Administrator (Data Engineer) to research, evaluate, design, implement, and maintain Oracle database systems and product solutions. This onsite role includes responsibilities across high availability, disaster recovery, security controls, automation, and continuous monitoring, along with OCI support and a rotating 24/7 on-call DBA rotation.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer Oracle Real Applications Clusters (RAC) databases on the IBM AIX Unix platform, including installation, setup, configuration, performance tuning, and operational support for high availability environments.
• Provision, migrate, optimize, and support enterprise Oracle databases on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
• Implement advanced security controls, including enforcing network encryption to TLS 1.2 standards for client-to-database and server communication.
• Execute quarterly Critical Patch Updates (CPU) across database environments, leveraging Oracle Fleet Maintenance tools and OEM automation.
• Build, maintain, and test Oracle Data Guard physical standby configurations to support high availability, zero data loss, and rapid failover.
• Automate routine database management tasks such as provisioning, backup monitoring, and health checks using automation scripting with Ansible and Shell.
• Use Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for proactive system monitoring, diagnostics, and performance management.
• Manage IT service management workflows by handling incidents and change tickets in ServiceNow, including root cause analysis for incidents and prompt participation in major incident bridges or critical database alerts triggered via 24/7 on-call notifications.
• Apply engineering principles when designing and enhancing new and existing systems.
• Document new system components and modifications to existing components.
• Support business needs through engineering tasks and assignments, including engineering technology research, procurement, deployment, and configuration for new and modified systems.
• Provide technical leadership in the architecture discipline and development of information technology solutions.
• Present clear, organized, and concise information across multiple media formats to support effective business decisions.
• Perform installation, upgrade, and migration activities for Oracle RAC databases.
• Conduct performance tuning for production Oracle databases.
• Design and implement high availability solutions using Oracle RAC and Data Guard.
• Maintain security compliance by applying Oracle quarterly security patch releases.
• Participate in a rotating on-call DBA rotation to support production environments for the Oracle DB team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• 2-5 years of Oracle Database Administrator experience, with a proven track record supporting Oracle RAC database administration on the AIX platform.
• Hands-on experience creating and supporting database deployments in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or similar cloud environments.
• Experience implementing and supporting Oracle Multi-tenant Architecture databases.
• Advanced automation scripting experience.
• Significant experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (EM) and Oracle Fleet Maintenance.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering discipline, including organizational, planning, and time management skills.

• Word processing and spreadsheet software skills.
• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or the equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.

Work Schedule

• Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM (rotating on-call schedule required)

Salary

USD 78,400 - 123,200 per year.
