Modeling and Simulation Developer
Job Description
MANTECH is hiring a Software Developer (Modeling and Simulation) in Quantico, VA (onsite) to help the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab transition to digital wargaming.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain simulation models and environments using a range of programming languages, tools, and data sources
- Integrate models and simulations into broader system architectures
- Support MCWL Wargaming Division efforts for interoperability testing and model orchestration
- Work with engineers, analysts, and operational subject matter experts to improve model fidelity and simulation accuracy
- Implement new capabilities, run model testing and validation, and troubleshoot issues across evolving simulation platforms
- Plan and coordinate simulation project work, including data collection, stakeholder alignment, and capability tracking
- Contribute to simulation project documentation activities
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Game Development, or a related technical field
- Minimum 7 years of software development experience focused on simulation or game-based environments
- Alternative experience qualifications: 9 years with an associate’s degree, or 10 years without a degree
- Proficiency in programming languages including C++, C#, Python, or Java
- Experience with simulation platforms or engines such as AFSIM, NGTS, OneSAF, Unity, Unreal Engine, Simio, or Arena
- Familiarity with version control and collaborative software development workflows
- Must hold a current/active TS/SCI security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

- Familiarity with mission engineering, wargaming, campaign analysis, or Naval Capabilities Integration Process (NCIP), and related military systems/processes
- Knowledge of 3D graphics, physics engines, and database management systems (including SQL)
- Experience applying Agile or Scrum methodologies to simulation projects
- Strong communication, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability and willingness to perform occasional manual labor and warehouse duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds
- Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
- Ability to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets and office machinery
- Ability to frequently communicate with coworkers, management, and customers, which may include delivering presentations, and exchange accurate information in those settings
