Mainframe Developer

Calance US is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer for a long-term contract in Torrance, California. The role combines hands-on development with production support for large-scale mainframe projects, operating on a hybrid schedule with on-site presence four days per week. You will work with IBM mainframe technologies to build, troubleshoot, and optimize critical financial services applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide application development and production support for multiple large projects.
• Research and resolve production issues, troubleshooting mainframe online and batch abends.
• Evaluate daily and monthly batch processes to improve performance and shorten the critical path window.
• Perform impact analysis across multiple platforms and applications.
• Deliver complete documentation for estimates, design, and development.
• Work with IBM mainframe technologies including COBOL, CICS, MQ, DB2, and JCL.
• Participate in on-call support for nightly batch production.

Requirements

• Stable work history is required.
• 5+ years of recent Mainframe development experience with COBOL, CICS, MQ, DB2, and JCL.
• Experience with Financial Services and/or Consumer Finance.
• Knowledge of financial services lending, customer service, payment processing, taxes, end-of-term and extension processes, collections, delinquency tracking, repossession, charge-offs, recovery, bankruptcy, and accounting.
• Familiarity with test practices and deliverables for unit testing.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Must work onsite four days per week.
• Local candidates or those willing to relocate at their own expense are required.
