Machine Learning Engineer - Vision
Job Description
Hadrian Automation is building manufacturing intelligence through its Copilot/DFM pipeline, and this role helps turn state of the art computer vision into reliable detection and segmentation capabilities. If you want to own the full machine learning lifecycle with a focus on measurable impact, this onsite position in Torrance, CA is a strong fit, with a $160,000 to $250,000 target salary range.
What you’ll build
You will research, develop, and deploy advanced object detection and segmentation models used for layout analysis, document understanding, and semantic part understanding. You will also create the surrounding systems that make these models usable in the pipeline, including tooling and strategies that improve data quality and model performance over time.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy cutting edge object detection and segmentation models for layout analysis, document understanding, and semantic part understanding
- Partner with the core engineering team to build and maintain annotation tooling, implement active learning loops, and design synthetic data augmentation strategies
- Create evaluation frameworks that go beyond traditional mAP/IoU, capturing metrics that precisely quantify system behavior and user impact
- Collaborate with the machine learning team to help set technical and product roadmaps for the AI platform
- Improve performance across the long tail, where each incremental accuracy gain translates to meaningful time savings at Hadrian’s scale
Requirements
- 5-8 years of professional experience building and shipping computer vision models, with an emphasis on detection and/or segmentation
- Deep expertise with modern transformer-based architectures such as ViT and Swin
- Strong Python and PyTorch skills, including experience writing custom training loops, loss functions, and data loaders when needed
- Production deployment ownership, including shipping models to production and being responsible for endpoint and model health
- MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (preferred); equivalent industry experience is valued equally
Compensation and location
Location: Torrance, CA (onsite)
Salary range: $160,000 - $250,000 per year (actual range may vary based on experience)
