Job Description

Hadrian Automation is building language-model capabilities that help teams understand and reason over manufacturing data packages. As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will own key parts of the ML lifecycle for fine-tuned LLM systems, with a focus on document understanding, extraction workflows, and evaluation that reflects real user impact.

You will work onsite in Torrance, CA, partnering closely with the core engineering team to advance the AI platform. The role is backed by a compensation range of USD 160,000 - 250,000 per year.

What you’ll do

  • Research, develop, and deploy fine-tuned language models for document classification, key information extraction, table parsing, and multi-page or multi-document reasoning
  • Build and maintain annotation tooling, implement active learning loops, and design synthetic data augmentation strategies
  • Create evaluation frameworks that go beyond accuracy and CER, with a precise view of system behavior and measurable user impact
  • Collaborate with machine learning team members to help set technical and product roadmaps for the AI platform
  • Focus on improving performance across the long tail, where each accuracy gain translates into meaningful man-years of time savings at Hadrian’s scale

What you bring

  • 5-8 years of professional AI/ML experience, including at least 2 years working directly with large language models (fine-tuning, RLHF/DPO, or pre-training); special consideration for experience with layout-aware models
  • Strong Python and PyTorch fluency, including writing custom training loops, loss functions, and data loaders when needed
  • Production deployment ownership, including shipping models to production and being responsible for endpoint and model health
  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience valued equally

Tools and skills

  • Python, PyTorch, large language models, RLHF, DPO

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans for employees
  • 401k
  • Relocation support may be provided for certain situations, based on business need
  • Flexible vacation policy
  • Equity

Eligibility for ITAR

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Use of AI in hiring

  • Hadrian uses AI-assisted tools in recruiting and hiring to help organize and analyze recruiting data and to provide an AI-powered notetaker that can record and transcribe interviews and help coordinate feedback
  • These tools support the team and are not used to make hiring decisions; all candidate evaluations and hiring decisions are performed by humans
  • If an interview will be recorded, you will be notified in advance and may opt out at any time with no impact on your candidacy
