Job Description

JPMorganChase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in Columbus, Ohio to join the Infrastructure Platforms (IP) team. This onsite role centers on shaping secure, scalable software across multiple business functions, guiding AI-assisted engineering practices, production code development, and initiatives that enhance operational stability.

Responsibilities

  • Develops innovative software solutions, designs and implements features, and troubleshoots complex technical problems with an ability to apply unconventional approaches when needed.
  • Produces secure, high-quality production code and participates in code reviews and debugging of peers’ work.
  • Identifies opportunities to automate recurring remediation tasks to improve the overall stability of software applications and systems.
  • Leads adoption of enterprise‑authorized AI‑assisted engineering practices to boost code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, while establishing validation standards and promoting reuse of effective patterns across the team.
  • Leverages the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including AI-enabled development and automation capabilities, to maximize the value of automation.
  • Guides evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, credentials, and applicability within existing systems and information architecture.
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and adoption of new technologies.
  • Contributes to a team culture rooted in diversity, inclusion, opportunity, and respect.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with 5+ years of applied experience.
  • Strong experience with Python, Django, JavaScript, and SQL.
  • Proven track record leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Solid understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption.
  • Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD pipelines, application resiliency, and security.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.).
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems.
  • Practical cloud-native experience.
