Lead Software Engineer - Machine Learning

Lead software engineer focused on machine learning within JPMorganChase's Commercial and Investment Bank Payments Technology group in Jersey City, NJ, onsite, accountable for deploying end-to-end ML models, safeguarding production code, and advancing AI driven engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing technical leadership to the business and its engineering teams, contractors, and vendors.
• Deploy and operate end-to-end machine learning models in production environments.
• Build, deploy, and maintain services in a fully cloud native stack.
• Champion enterprise authorized AI assisted development practices to boost code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, while establishing consistent validation standards (secure coding, peer reviews, automated testing) and encouraging reuse of effective patterns across the team.
• Write secure, high quality production code and review or debug code written by peers.
• Influence product design choices, application functionality, and technical operations through informed decision making.
• Act as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more focus areas.
• Contribute to the engineering community by promoting firmwide frameworks, tools, and SDLC practices.
• Apply SDLC toolchain knowledge, including enterprise AI assisted development capabilities, to improve automation value.
• Encourage peers and project stakeholders to consider and apply leading edge technologies.
• Foster a culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect within the team.

Requirements

• Formal software engineering training or certification with five or more years of hands-on experience.
• Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages.
• Deep knowledge of software applications and processes with strong expertise in at least one technical domain (cloud, AI, ML, mobile, etc.).
• Proven experience leading the use of approved AI assisted development tools with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption in delivery.
• Ability to independently tackle design and functionality challenges with minimal supervision.
• Practical cloud native development experience.
• Educational background in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, or a related technical field.
