Lead Software Engineer - AWS / Python / AI

This Lead Software Engineer role sits on the Applied AI and ML team within the Commercial & Investment Bank. You will deliver secure, scalable technology solutions as a core technical contributor and help advance AI assisted engineering practices across the team. The position is onsite in Houston, TX.

Responsibilities

• Develops inventive software solutions, overseeing design, development, and troubleshooting with the ability to tackle non routine problems and break down complex technical challenges
• Produces secure, high quality production code and conducts reviews and debugging of others' code
• Champions enterprise authorized AI assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, including AI assisted code review, refactoring, faster test strategies, and incident root-cause analysis support, while establishing consistent validation standards and promoting reusable patterns
• Leverages the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including AI assisted development and automation capabilities, to maximize automation value
• Identifies opportunities to automate recurring remediation tasks to boost overall software stability
• Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to probe architectural designs and determine applicability within existing systems and information architecture
• Leads communities of practice to raise awareness of new and emerging technologies across Software Engineering

Requirements

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts plus 5+ years of applied experience
• Hands on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Advanced proficiency in Python
• Demonstrated success leading the use of approved AI assisted software development tools, with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity handling and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption
• Extensive experience building and operating AWS or public cloud based applications
• Proficiency with automation and continuous delivery methods and all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Experience with pipelines and DAGs for data and machine learning processing
• Proven proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline such as cloud, AI and machine learning
• Deep knowledge of the financial services IT landscape
