Location: Wilmington, DE onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement creative software solutions, handling design, development, and debugging with an ability to tackle problems beyond routine approaches.
  • Produce secure, high quality production code and perform reviews and debugging of peers' work.
  • Identify opportunities to automate recurring remediation and enhance the overall stability of applications and systems.
  • Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to probe architectural designs and determine applicability within existing information architectures.
  • Drive communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote awareness and adoption of new technologies.
  • Cultivate a culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect within the team.
  • Champion enterprise approved AI assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, establishing validation standards and promoting reuse of effective patterns across the team.
  • Apply knowledge of the SDLC toolchain, including AI assisted development and automation capabilities, to maximize automation value.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts plus 5+ years of hands-on experience.
  • Hands-on experience delivering end-to-end solutions encompassing system design, application development, testing, and production stability.
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages, including Python.
  • Practical cloud native engineering experience, with design and operation of workloads on AWS.
  • Strong AWS compute expertise (EC2, ECS/EKS, and/or Lambda) with attention to performance, resiliency, and cost awareness.
  • Solid AWS networking knowledge (VPC, subnets, security groups, NACLs, Route 53, load balancers) to craft secure, resilient architectures.
  • Experience with AWS storage and data platforms (S3, EBS, EFS; and databases such as RDS/Aurora/DynamoDB as applicable) to support varied application needs.
  • Proven Infrastructure-as-Code skills with Terraform, including authoring and maintaining reusable modules, managing remote state and locking, and applying workspace/environment best practices.
  • Strong automation and delivery capabilities, including CI/CD pipeline design, integrating Terraform into workflows, automated validation/testing (linting, plan approvals), and scripting (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) to streamline processes.
  • Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI assisted software development tools, with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Solid understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including handling data securely and coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices.
