Lead Developer Advocate, Creator Platform
Job Description
Lead Developer Advocate for Rockstar Games' Creator Platform (FiveM and RedM), focused on elevating developer experience and producing guides, tutorials, and API references for creators and server owners, onsite in Manhattan, NY.
Responsibilities
- Promote the Creator Platform tools and technology to help new and existing creators find clear paths to success on FiveM and RedM.
- Drive ongoing improvements to developer experience by incorporating prioritized feedback from the creator community and Developer Relations.
- Support development of programs that cultivate the next generation of creators across our Platforms.
- Advance the maturity of Developer Experience with comprehensive documentation, getting started guides, tutorials, how-to articles, and API references for FiveM and RedM.
- Author step-by-step guides and templates teaching developers to build scripts, game modes, maps, props, and other content.
- Work closely with Creator Platform engineering teams to learn about new features and platform changes, translating them into creator-facing changelogs, release notes, and migration guides.
- Review and improve existing developer documentation for clarity, accuracy, and completeness as Creator Platforms evolve.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in technical writing, developer documentation, or a related role, ideally within gaming or software development.
- Proven ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and cohesively in written form.
- Familiarity with at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Lua, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, or similar).
- Experience with documentation tooling and platforms (Markdown, static site generators, wikis, or docs-as-code workflows).
- Strong technical comprehension and the ability to rapidly learn new technologies, APIs, and developer tools.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with history of producing tutorials, API references, or developer guides.
- Proven leadership and people management abilities, with capacity to coach and develop team members.
- Ability to collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, Developer Relations, and Community teams to gather information and ensure technical accuracy.
- Comfort with version control systems (Git) and contributing to documentation repositories.
- User-focused mindset, consistently considering developers and creators when producing content.

Compensation
- Salary: USD 112,500 - 166,500 per year
What we do
- The Rockstar Games Creator Platform Team builds a technology platform that enables players to experience community created content on fully customized dedicated servers where creators can develop their own game modes and other modifications in multiple scripting languages.
- We operate the Cfx Marketplace, a curated digital storefront where GTAV and RDR2 creators share and sell custom scripts, assets, and more.
- We produce developer documentation, tutorials, and learning resources to help our creator community understand platform capabilities, APIs, and best practices.
Pluses
- Prior experience with the FiveM/RedM ecosystem, GTA modding, or similar modding communities.
- Experience writing public-facing documentation for game engines, modding frameworks, or related user-facing tech.
- Experience producing video tutorials, interactive code samples, or other multimedia learning content.
- Understanding of creator workflows and asset pipelines in user-generated content or modding ecosystems.
- Experience contributing to or collaborating with open source projects and developer communities.
