Job Description
Fiberutilities Group (FG) is building a modern data integration ecosystem, and the Lead Data Engineer role is central to how that platform evolves. This hybrid position is based in Cedar Rapids, IA (52401), with a focus on designing durable pipelines, enforcing data standards, and improving data quality across external data domains. You will have the chance to shape architecture end-to-end and apply advanced methods to make data more reliable for downstream use.
What you’ll be responsible for
- Own the end-to-end architecture and design for FG’s data integrations
- Design, implement, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, transform, and load external data into Azure SQL
- Define and enforce data modeling standards, including schemas and data contracts for external data domains
- Implement data quality frameworks to ensure trusted, consistent data
- Apply ML and advanced methods to improve data cleansing, matching, and enrichment
- Establish and promote best practices, coding standards, and review processes for data engineering work
What you’ll need
- 7+ years of data architecture/engineering experience
- Strong experience designing and building ETL/ELT pipelines in an Azure-centric environment
- 2+ years of senior or leadership experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience
