Lead Data Engineer

Build production-grade data systems at a global food company. In this role at Nestlé Purina, you will lead a data product team for a defined data domain, delivering resilient and monitored pipelines that turn source data into data products ready for end users, applications, and other teams. The position is onsite in St. Louis, MO, with a salary range of USD 137,758 to 188,424 per year and bonus eligibility.

You will also play a visible role in the data engineering community, partnering across engineering and architecture to mature the enterprise data platform, and guiding other data engineers through coaching and mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical lead for a data product team aligned to a specific data domain
• Develop, test, deploy, and maintain data pipelines that move, transform, and harmonize source data into consumable data products
• Ensure delivery follows Purina’s data engineering and architectural standards
• Monitor pipeline performance for assets developed and owned within the assigned domain
• Promote data engineering best practices through the data engineering guild
• Coach and mentor other data engineers
• Collaborate with engineers and architects to mature the enterprise data platform
• Partner with product owners and business stakeholders to shape long-term data product roadmaps
• Work with stakeholders and the data product team to define data product requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• 7+ years of professional experience, including 5+ years in practical, hands-on data engineering
• 4+ years experience in the Azure ecosystem
• 4+ years experience with Databricks and Python/PySpark
