Job Description

At Macy's, data-driven decision making informs strategic initiatives across the business. The Lead BI Developer - Digital guides BI products within an agile team, translating data into actionable insights that support stakeholder decisions. This onsite role in Johns Creek, GA offers a salary range of USD 90,100 - 150,300 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with BI leadership and stakeholders to define business objectives, map project scope, and mentor junior team members to deliver solid technical outcomes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, respond promptly to inquiries, and escalate where necessary.
  • Apply advanced statistical methods to uncover patterns, ranging from basic aggregations to complex analyses.
  • Partner with Data Engineers on data collection, storage, and retrieval; work with Data Governance to identify data issues and propose cleansing or enhancement solutions.
  • Lead projects using analytical best practices, ensuring data sources are connected with quality and reliability.
  • Utilize interactive dashboards and visualizations to present data-driven insights with a strong focus on user experience.
  • Oversee validation, QA testing, and peer reviews to ensure accuracy and integrity in reporting.
  • Provide post-implementation support, including defect resolution and hands-on troubleshooting of reports in the field.
  • Manage Power BI administration activities such as capacity planning, data connections oversight, and user/group access provisioning.
  • Drive continuous improvement through performance optimization, automation, and expanded functionality.
  • Foster an inclusive environment that strengthens relationships and authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Group Work Leadership: Ability to guide portions of a pod's iterations, clearly communicate priorities, and provide effective technical support to junior colleagues.
  • Consultative Mindset: Engage stakeholders beyond analytics to understand challenges and goals, applying a business-first lens to solutions.
  • Technical Acumen: Knowledge of data pipelines, BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.), advanced report development, and querying languages (SQL, R, Python, etc.).
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical ability with meticulous attention to detail, documentation, organization, and time management.
  • Communication: Timely updates with management and stakeholders, plus tailored communication plans for diverse audiences.
  • 5+ years of experience analyzing data and building comprehensive dashboards in a retail enterprise environment.
  • Familiarity with project management and collaboration tools (eg, JIRA, Confluence).
  • Committed to learning emerging technologies and influencing others to adopt innovative approaches.
  • Thrives in fast-paced environments and can manage multiple projects, prioritizing objectives and timelines for the team.
  • Highly autonomous and comfortable in an evolving, ambiguous environment.
  • Passionate about delivering high-quality BI products that address customer and business challenges.
  • Physical requirements: Regularly sit, talk, and hear; use hands and fingers to operate; occasional movement and reaching; close vision required.
