Job Description

Knox County Government is hiring a Junior Applications Analyst to support the IT team in building, testing, deploying, and maintaining software applications that meet business needs. This onsite role in Knoxville, Tennessee focuses on requirements, application development and support, and issue resolution across users and departmental systems.

Location and Schedule

  • Location: Knoxville, TN (onsite)
  • Work location: In person
  • Schedule: 8 hour shift, Monday to Friday

Salary

  • Annual salary: USD 48,000 - 58,000 per yearly
  • Pay: $48,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
  • Compensation package: Yearly pay

Role Summary

The Junior Applications Analyst supports business requirements, application development and support, testing and QA, deployment, and ongoing maintenance and improvements. The role also evaluates software systems and resolves user and application issues, including collaboration with users and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
  • Create efficient, accessible, and secure software applications for users and the department
  • Evaluate new software and systems to determine feasibility for Knox County needs
  • Work with users and vendors to resolve user and application issues, and enhance user service
  • Integrate software components with third-party systems
  • Develop testing plans and perform application testing
  • Train users on software application packages, including commercial and custom written solutions
  • Stay open to learning new programming languages, technologies, and skills
  • Cover the full application lifecycle, from defining business requirements through continuous maintenance and improvements

Experience and Education

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or related field
  • Minimum experience: 5 years
  • Equivalent experience may be substituted for the education requirement

CJIS Certification Requirement

The role requires fulfillment of Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification requirements during employment with Knox County IT. This includes, but is not limited to, a favorable background check completed and approved by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
