Java Software Developer

A Java Software Developer role is available in Salt Lake City, Utah with Robert Half, focused on building reliable logistics and e-commerce software for a high-volume platform. You will work onsite and contribute across new development and ongoing improvements, partnering with engineering and business stakeholders to translate requirements into practical solutions.

This position centers on Java and Spring-based services and APIs, with a microservices architecture that requires attention to code quality, testing, and production reliability. As part of the team, you will also use AI-assisted development tools to speed up parts of the development workflow while validating results for accuracy.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and support Java-based applications that run logistics and commerce workflows across a high-volume platform.
• Build and enhance services and APIs that connect external partners, internal applications, and carrier-related systems.
• Contribute to both new product development and improvements to existing components to support performance and maintainability.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, testing, documentation, and review preparation, while validating output for quality and accuracy.
• Collaborate with architects, senior engineers, and business stakeholders to turn functional needs into technical solutions.
• Participate in design discussions, peer reviews, and engineering standards activities to maintain clean, dependable code.
• Develop and maintain well-tested software within a microservices-based environment using modern Java and Spring practices.
• Support production reliability through on-call participation, troubleshooting, incident response, and follow-up analysis.
• Bring 2+ years of Java development experience in a production environment.

What You Bring

• Hands-on experience with Core Java, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.
• Ability to build and consume APIs for integration-heavy applications.
• Familiarity with distributed systems or microservices-based application design.
• Demonstrated experience using AI tools such as Claude (or similar platforms) to improve software development workflows.
• Strong understanding of debugging, code quality, testing, and maintainable design principles.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional technical and business teams.
