Job Description

What you get An onsite IT Software Developer III role in Washington, DC with a competitive annual salary of USD 95,000. At E Logic, you will contribute to the IRS Audit Information Management System Digitalization program, focusing on design, modernization, and ongoing maintenance of mission-critical IRS applications within a UNISYS mainframe environment, applying COBOL expertise. This position emphasizes collaboration with IRS stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable software solutions that support critical government work.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, modify, test, and maintain AIMS COBOL applications and supporting components.
  • Implement programming changes for modernization, routine maintenance, and legislative updates.
  • Gather and analyze business and technical requirements from IRS stakeholders and business units.
  • Develop Functional Specification Plans (FSPs), technical documentation, and testing artifacts.
  • Conduct code reviews, debugging, troubleshooting, and defect resolution activities.
  • Support database updates, batch processing changes, and system integration tasks.
  • Develop and execute Unit, ISAT, Regression, FIT, SAT, ESAT, and DSIT test plans.
  • Assist with release readiness and coordinate deployments using CMPlus.
  • Participate in production support, incident management, and root cause analysis efforts.
  • Support Operations & Maintenance tasks and ongoing system enhancements.
  • Collaborate with integrated project teams, architects, analysts, and IRS technical staff.
  • Engage in knowledge transfer and assisted development activities with IRS personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of software development experience in enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on experience with UNISYS COBOL.
  • Hands-on experience with Executive Control Language (ECL).
  • Hands-on experience with mainframe development environments.
  • Hands-on experience with batch processing systems.
  • Experience with CMPlus.
  • Experience with IPF.
  • Experience with DMS.
  • Experience with FILECRACKER.
  • Experience with DOCIT.
  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience creating technical documentation and test plans.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and debugging skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within government project teams.
