Job Description

Wallis Companies is hiring an IT Business Applications Developer to design, develop, and maintain internal business applications onsite in Cuba, MO. In this role, you will help create reliable, secure solutions that improve how teams collect data, move work through workflows, and manage electronic forms. You will also evaluate practical automation and AI-enabled approaches, while independently validating outputs and staying aligned with company data privacy, security, and responsible-use standards.

What you’ll do

  • Design, develop, and maintain internal business applications, electronic forms, and workflows using tools such as SharePoint Online, Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps and Power Automate), Laserfiche, and Qdabra FormsViewer.
  • Implement enhancements and updates to existing solutions based on approved business requirements.
  • Support operational efficiency by automating data collection and process workflows.
  • Build system enhancements including workflows, integrations, reports, and dashboards to improve business performance.
  • Develop and maintain forms logic, workflow rules, validations, calculations, and integrations.
  • Create and support SharePoint lists, libraries, views, metadata, and permissions for business applications.
  • Design and maintain databases and data structures that support forms and workflows.
  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot SQL queries, views, and stored procedures for applications and reporting solutions.
  • Support application testing, including user acceptance testing (UAT), and help with controlled deployment to production environments.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for application-related questions, troubleshooting, and complex issue resolution.
  • Work with business users to clarify requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Coordinate with external developers and website consultants to support implementation, testing, and issue resolution for approved business applications and web solutions.
  • Communicate changes, impacts, and limitations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Prioritize effectively while managing multiple projects and support requests.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation and end-user procedures; support adoption through solution-specific guidance.
  • Use approved generative AI and AI-assisted development tools to support requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting, with independent validation before use.

How you’ll work with others

  • Build strong relationships with business leaders, end users, vendors, and the IT team.
  • Escalate development scope, prioritization, and vendor performance concerns to IT leadership as appropriate.
  • Participate in cross-training, knowledge-sharing, and professional development to maintain current technical knowledge and industry best practices.

Security and safety expectations

  • Adhere to all company IT security policies and immediately report any security incidents to the supervisor.
  • Proactively identify and report unsafe conditions within IT systems or operations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Lead by example in safe IT operations and adherence to company safety policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field preferred. Equivalent education, training, certifications, or experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience developing, configuring, or supporting business applications, electronic forms, workflows, or SharePoint-based solutions in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, Power Apps, Power Automate, SQL, Laserfiche, Qdabra FormsViewer, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English for effective communication with managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Strong working knowledge of SharePoint Online, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Power Platform, particularly Power Apps and Power Automate.
  • Working knowledge of generative AI and AI-assisted productivity or development tools, including effective prompting, output validation, awareness of data privacy and security risks, and knowing when AI-enabled approaches are appropriate.
  • Experience developing and supporting electronic forms, workflows, validations, and automated processes.
  • Ability to quickly learn platforms such as Laserfiche and Qdabra FormsViewer.
  • Working knowledge of SQL concepts including queries, views, and basic stored procedures for applications and reporting.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead small project teams or technical workstreams and manage multiple projects and support priorities simultaneously.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Certifications consistent with the Wallis Companies IT Tech Level Matrix are preferred and can contribute to advancement, including examples such as Microsoft Power Platform (PL-series), Microsoft Azure fundamentals, Laserfiche certifications, or equivalent technical credentials.
