Instructional Designer & Developer, Lead
Job Description
Booz Allen Hamilton is seeking a Lead Instructional Designer & Developer to shape mission-aligned training in San Antonio. In this onsite role, you will analyze training needs, design engaging learning experiences, and lead multimedia teams to deliver high-quality programs across mission-driven domains. A bachelor’s degree is required, and the position offers a salary range of USD 69,400 - 158,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, instructors, product designers, and stakeholders to capture training requirements and identify appropriate learning solutions.
- Lead the design and development of synchronous, asynchronous, and performance support tools, always prioritizing the learner experience.
- Direct teams of multimedia specialists, graphic artists, and instructors to produce training content aligned with the ADDIE model.
- Recommend and apply contemporary strategies, including blended learning, screen casting, and gamification, to raise learner engagement.
- Facilitate iterative reviews with SMEs and stakeholders, incorporating feedback to continuously improve learning materials.
- Evaluate training solutions using methodologies such as the Kirkpatrick Model, collecting and analyzing results to ensure effectiveness.
Requirements
- Experience designing and developing training for mission-focused environments such as national security, cybersecurity, or law enforcement.
- Experience with the ADDIE model and modern instructional design practices.
- Ability to lead and mentor teams of instructional developers, multimedia staff, or learning specialists.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with SMEs and stakeholders throughout the learning lifecycle.
- Ability to creatively apply emerging instructional technologies and multimedia solutions to real-world training challenges.
- Secret clearance.

Work model
- Onsite: Work will primarily be performed at a Booz Allen office or customer facility, collaborating directly with colleagues and customers as required by the role.
- Hybrid: You will be expected to work from a Booz Allen facility frequently, in alignment with leadership expectations and the needs of the role. You may also be required to work from or visit a customer facility.
- Remote: If listed as remote, there may still be occasions when you are required to work in person at a Booz Allen or customer facility.
