Full Stack Developer

Based in Huntersville, NC on site, this Full Stack Developer role offers meaningful autonomy and collaboration. You will have complete latitude to design and build Medblocks' AI assistant, work closely with the founders on technical strategy, and engage with open metrics and transparent financials. The position also provides regular opportunities to present at conferences and publish technical content about AI in healthcare, travel for team meetups and conferences, plus relocation assistance. It is a chance to create AI powered healthcare tools from first principles while contributing to a vibrant developer education and open source community.

Compensation: USD 75,000 - 95,500 per year. Location: Onsite in Huntersville, NC.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and contribute to open source healthcare software with a backend in Node.js, Java, or Python and a frontend in React, Next.js, or similar
• Maintain and enhance Medblocks open source repositories, delivering clean, reliable code and performing code reviews
• Lead client projects, gather requirements, participate in technical design discussions, and ensure robust architecture and implementation
• Translate business and clinical workflows into modular system designs using open standards like FHIR and openEHR
• Develop high quality educational content, tutorials, and sample apps
• Author clear technical articles and documentation for diverse audiences
• Mentor developers and support the community through forums, workshops, webinars, and code walkthroughs
• Curate and continually improve the Medblocks learning portal and course materials
• Champion best practices for coding, technical communication, and developer experience
• Collaborate with product and education teams to identify developer needs and learning opportunities
• Represent Medblocks at events and advocate for our technology stack through talks or demos

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience building and shipping modern web applications with a backend in Node.js, Java, or Python and a frontend in React/Next.js or similar
• Hands-on experience leading technical projects, gathering requirements, and designing scalable architectures
• Strong fundamentals in database design, API implementation, and microservice architecture
• Experience in teaching, mentoring, or developer training roles, with delivered lessons, learner evaluations, or curriculum development
• Proven ability to write about or explain technical concepts (blogs, portfolios, videos, conference talks, etc.)
• Excellent communication skills in fluent English, with the ability to simplify complex topics
• A keen eye for quality content, user experience, and educational best practices
• Collaborative, growth-oriented mindset with a passion for open source and education
