Embedded Software Engineer - All Levels
Job Description
Join BAE Systems Electronic Systems to develop embedded software for flight control and related avionics systems used across next-generation aircraft and other applications.
Responsibilities
- Contribute across the full software lifecycle, including project planning, requirements development, software design/implementation, and integration and test
- Create embedded control system designs and implementations that satisfy stringent requirements
- Develop embedded software using Green Hills, ARM Development Studio, or other tools targeting embedded processors such as PowerPC and multi-core ARM
- Use and evolve existing processes to apply effective techniques that help minimize design and product cost
- Provide leadership through mentoring and collaboration, including interfacing with customers
- Choose program participation as either a technical collaborator or technical leader, with technical leadership duties that may include mentoring and presenting designs at technical interchange meetings
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 4+ years of work experience in embedded software development using C/C++/Assembly
- Experience developing bare metal operating systems (no OS or proprietary RTOS), including low-level software such as device drivers and BSP development

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with embedded real-time operating system development
- Experience with PowerPC, ARM, x86 processor architectures
- Hardware/software integration and debug experience
- Familiarity with source control systems and configuration management practices
- Higher-level programming and scripting languages such as JAVA, Python, Matlab, and Simulink
- Familiarity with safety-critical development using DO-178B/C or equivalent stringent process requirements
Compensation
- Full-Time Salary Range: $107,359 - $182,510 per year
