Embedded Software Engineer

Tata Technologies is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer to design and implement embedded device software, taking work from initial requirements through production and commercial deployment. This onsite role in Mossville, IL focuses on both embedded systems execution and supporting database-related specifications for development projects.

In this position, you will contribute to system analysis and planning, including efficiency, stability, and scalability reviews, while also evaluating project requests tied to database user needs to help estimate time and cost. The work spans the full embedded software lifecycle, with a strong emphasis on C and C++ development.

Role overview

• Design and implement software of embedded devices and systems from requirements through production and commercial deployment for product lines.
• Write and code logical and physical database descriptions, and specify database identifiers for the database management system or direct others in coding descriptions.
• Analyze and enhance the efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resources.
• Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate the time and cost required to complete the project.

Key responsibilities

• Convert requirements into embedded device and system software that supports delivery to production environments.
• Support database specification tasks, including logical/physical descriptions and database management system identifier alignment.
• Assess system performance characteristics and recommend improvements related to stability and scalability.
• Evaluate database-related project requests to estimate effort and cost based on user needs.

Required skills and qualifications

• Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of reading schematics and data sheets for components.
• Basic knowledge of the full software development lifecycle, from business or systems analysis and requirements gathering through functional specification authoring, development, testing, and delivery.
• Basic ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed, including basic knowledge of computer hardware and software.
• Solid programming experience in C or C++.
• Knowledge of computer development software used with embedded systems, such as SQL and VisualBasic.

Education and experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a relevant field is required.
• 5-7 years of experience is required.
