Job Description

Theoris Services is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer in Indianapolis, IN (onsite) to build and improve embedded systems software. If you enjoy hands-on development, debugging, and making systems more efficient and reliable, this role combines embedded C/C work with practical tooling and lifecycle support, including development tasks and build or release management for military/defense applications.

What you’ll do

  • Write and maintain embedded software using Embedded C++ and C
  • Collaborate with other engineers to design, test, and troubleshoot system behavior
  • Identify and resolve issues in the existing code base as well as problems introduced in new code
  • Analyze and improve efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resources
  • Process assigned change requests, including:
    • Custom-developed tools and general development tasks
    • Integration with other apps
    • Polarion workflows and UI changes
    • GitHub UI, repository creation/changes, and CI pipeline support
  • Support tool and software licensing tasks, process documentation, and software build and release management (including military/defense application support)

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar
  • 1-2 years of experience coding with Embedded C++ or Embedded C
  • Experience using Python and/or JavaScript for tool or scripting development
  • Hands-on development and troubleshooting experience on embedded targets
  • Demonstrated embedded systems design experience using preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems
  • Ability to quickly learn new methods
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to work independently

Compensation and benefits

$62,000 - $72,000 per year (Indianapolis, IN onsite).
