Job Description

Wave Central is advancing RF wireless video solutions by tightly integrating digital hardware with embedded Linux software. The Embedded Linux Software Engineer will take a leading role in shaping system architecture across hardware and software, collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams to turn concepts into production-ready implementations. The position is based in New Jersey with remote work options.

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead overall system architecture, define interfaces, and steer major design decisions spanning hardware and software
  • Coordinate multiple engineering disciplines while actively contributing to hands-on development
  • Convert broad product requirements into concrete engineering specifications, tasks, and deliverables
  • Design and validate digital hardware, including board bring-up, debugging, and system-level performance testing
  • Build embedded Linux components, including kernel drivers, device trees, system services, and applications
  • Collaborate with distributed software teams on code reviews, CI pipelines, and integration support
  • Lead prototyping efforts, system validation, manufacturing handoffs, and release activities
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues across hardware, software, RF, and networking domains
  • Provide technical support and documentation for Product Management, Sales Engineering, Operations, and QA

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree is required, with a master's degree preferred, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Experience designing and debugging digital hardware systems
  • Strong embedded Linux development background, including kernel, drivers, device trees, and system services
  • Proven ability to lead and collaborate within distributed engineering teams
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and Python
  • Strong networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, routing, VLANs, and multicast
  • Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power measurement tools, and system-level debugging workflows
  • Ability to operate across hardware, software, RF, and networking domains
