Embedded Firmware and Software Engineer
Job Description
This role focuses on the design, development, and debugging of embedded software and firmware that supports reliable hardware operation. You will work closely with hardware and cross-functional partners to integrate firmware components and help deliver high-quality products.
Location and Employment Details
- Location: Spring, TX (onsite)
- Schedule: Full time
- Shift: No shift premium (United States of America)
- Compensation: USD 105,050 - 161,800 per year
Responsibilities
- Prepare and create instructional technical manuscripts for firmware operation.
- Allocate resources to complete programming projects and design detailed plans to ensure firmware functions properly.
- Design enhancements, updates, and programming changes across firmware portions and subsystems, including DSP, embedded code, EFI drivers, EFI applications, and BIOS/UEFI.
- Analyze design and determine coding, programming, and integration activities needed based on general objectives and product or solution architecture.
- Write and execute complete testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned application portions; develop solutions for code issues and integrate them into application architecture.
- Lead a project team of other software firmware engineers and coordinate internal and outsourced development partners to deliver reliable, cost effective, and high quality solutions for assigned system portions or subsystems.
- Collaborate and communicate with management and development partners regarding firmware design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
- Represent the software firmware engineering team across all phases of larger and more complex development projects, from microarchitecture design through firmware architecture and development.
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including architects, hardware engineers, software developers, and product managers, to ensure firmware requirements and specifications are clearly defined.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in firmware technologies, and provide recommendations for improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 4-6 years of work experience, preferably in firmware development or a related field; alternatively, an advanced degree with 3-5 years of work experience.
