Electrical and Software Engineer or Technician

Twin State Environmental offers a collaborative, onsite focused role in Davenport, IA, supporting electrical and automation systems for the Raptor Tank Cleaning Systems across in-house builds, on-site installations, and field troubleshooting. This position emphasizes hands-on engineering, practical problem solving, and teamwork with mechanical, operations, and service colleagues to drive reliable equipment performance.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and maintain control architectures for the Raptor equipment
• Program and troubleshoot Kollmorgen motion controllers PDMM and PCMM
• Operate within Kollmorgen Automation Suite using KAS IDE
• Set up and support AKD servo drives Gen 1 and Gen 2 with associated servo motors
• Install and troubleshoot Schneider ATV340 VFDs using SoMove
• Create and maintain HMI interfaces with Phoenix Visu+
• Integrate Phoenix Contact Axioline I/O networks
• Diagnose electrical, control, and communication issues including Ethernet and RS-485
• Configure and support remote access systems such as mGuard and VPN
• Assist with system startup, commissioning, and field service support
• Collaborate with mechanical, operations, and service teams
• Document configurations and support continuous system improvements
• Occasional overnight travel for on-site work

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field is preferred
• 2+ years of experience in industrial automation or controls is preferred
• Experience with PLCs, motion control systems, or industrial equipment
• Ability to read and clearly describe electrical drawings
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and networking
• SQL Server knowledge is a plus, but not required
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
