Job Description
Join Meta’s Central Youth org as a Data Engineer on the Teen & Family Experience (TFE) team. This onsite role in San Francisco, CA focuses on building large-scale data artifacts that power teen experiences and the measurement behind parental controls. You’ll design and deliver the underlying metrics, data models, staging pipelines, and dashboards that help the team understand what’s working across a growing set of teen-facing features.
Compensation: USD 147,000 - 208,000 per year. Minimum experience: 4+ years. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
What you’ll do
- Support a significantly expanded measurement surface for parental controls and teen experiences.
- Measure features including productive pauses, the non-personalized feed option, nighttime mode, and school mode.
- Own measurement for a broad slate of parental-controls and teen-experience features, covering both new launches and enhancements.
- Be accountable end to end for each metric, including logging, staging data, aggregate datasets, the pipeline work behind them, and the dashboards that surface results.
- Adapt your scope per metric, including situations where you build metrics and dashboards using logging and staging work done by Instagram or Facebook handles, as well as cases where you handle logging and hand off later stages.
- Collaborate on allocation of work across teams, deciding who takes which pieces based on availability, technical skills, and domain knowledge.
How you’ll build data capabilities
- Guide teams by building optimal data artifacts, including datasets and visualizations, to answer key product questions.
- Refine data systems by designing logging solutions and creating scalable data models.
- Ensure data security and data quality, recommending approaches and standards for architecture, development, and data management to address complex analytical problems.
Product impact through data
- Use data to shape product development, identify new opportunities, and address upcoming challenges.
- Drive projects that help ensure products add value for users and businesses.
- Prioritize work and deliver innovative solutions in response to opportunities and challenges.
Communication and influence
- Translate findings into data-driven stories, not just reports.
- Influence partners with clear insights and actionable recommendations.
- Build credibility through structured, clear communication and act as a trusted strategic partner.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4+ years of experience where the primary responsibility involves working with data.
