Data Engineer Senior Principal
Job Description
The Senior Principal Data Engineer will design, implement, and operate advanced data management systems that support intelligence mission objectives. The position combines data architecture, pipeline and query performance optimization, secure environment compliance, and evaluation of emerging technologies within an onsite setting in College Park, Maryland.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate data management systems aligned to intelligence mission needs.
- Develop strategies for storing, accessing, integrating, and managing data across diverse systems and regimes.
- Partner with data users to determine, create, and maintain optimal data architectures, structures, and systems.
- Plan, design, and optimize data throughput, query performance, and overall data pipeline efficiency.
- Participate in the selection, configuration, and utilization of backend database technologies, including SQL, NoSQL, and HPC.
- Develop, maintain, update, and refine database solutions and related infrastructure.
- Maintain ISSO certification and support compliance with applicable security standards.
- Provide technical expertise across IT activities, including advanced data exploration, analysis, and synthesis.
- Research, apply, and support data science techniques used to store, manipulate, transform, and present information.
- Perform and report key performance indicators for data science initiatives to leadership.
- Evaluate new and emerging technologies to enhance mission capabilities.
- Lead efforts to develop and enhance database capabilities and computer-based visualization systems.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience.
- Master’s degree with 12 years related experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 17 years related experience.
- U.S. Citizenship Required.
- Less than 10% travel.

Estimated salary range: USD 147,292 - 199,278 per yearly.
