The Opportunity
Today’s data landscape combines structured and unstructured information from a variety of sources. As a data engineer, you will help organize and synthesize that data to yield meaningful insights for mission-critical initiatives. You will contribute to building advanced technology solutions and lead data engineering activities on projects that matter, from fraud detection to cancer research to national intelligence. In this role, you will deploy and develop pipelines and platforms that make disparate data coherent, while guiding a multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced, agile environment. Expect to engage with clients to translate data into answers that advance important missions, all within a collaborative, on-site setting.
Responsibilities
- Deploy and develop pipelines and platforms that organize and interpret disparate data.
- Contribute to advanced technology solutions and implement data engineering activities on mission-driven projects.
- Lead and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of analysts, data engineers, developers, and data consumers in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- Leverage analytical exploration to guide the assessment, design, build, and maintenance of scalable client platforms.
- Partner with clients to uncover data-driven answers that influence missions from fraud detection to health research to national security.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience deploying, configuring, and maintaining enterprise software and data systems in secure, air-gapped, or disconnected environments
- 3+ years building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured data
- 2+ years using Python and SQL for data manipulation, automation, and pipeline development
- Experience with distributed data and computing tools such as Spark or Databricks
- Experience developing RESTful APIs in Python to support data ingestion and integration workflows
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Elasticsearch
- Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), secure deployment practices, and data security controls
- Ability to work on site and operate independently in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) environment with limited connectivity

- Experience supporting classified data systems for the Department of Defense or Intelligence Community
- Experience with cross-domain solutions and data transfer guard technologies
- Experience supporting data lake and data warehouse architectures
- Experience with data modeling, metadata management, and data quality frameworks
- Experience with IAM, encryption, and security controls in cloud or on-prem environments
- Experience with Palantir Foundry or similar enterprise data platforms
- Knowledge of containerization or container orchestration technologies
- Strong verbal, written communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Work Model
Onsite work is expected at Booz Allen facilities or customer locations as required by the role and leadership needs. Hybrid or remote arrangements may be considered in specific circumstances, but this position is primarily onsite in Alexandria, VA.
Security and Eligibility
Applicants will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. A TS/SCI clearance is required.
