Job Description

Build supply chain data systems that others rely on every day while shaping how business teams self-serve trusted metrics. As a senior technical contributor on Blue Origin’s Supply Chain Business Intelligence & Data Science team, you will own supply chain data model architecture and strategy in Databricks and the self-serve analytics platform built on top of it. This onsite role is based in Seattle, WA with a base pay range of USD 169,347 - 237,085 per year.

What you’ll do

  • Architect and own the primary supply chain data models in Databricks, including the business-critical data assets used across the organization and built on top of the ET team’s data.
  • Define the strategy and architecture that enable self-serve access for supply chain stakeholders, covering semantic layers, curated data marts, access patterns, and documentation.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison to the Enterprise Technology (ET) data platform team, including data contracts, advocating for supply chain data needs, and adapting models as the upstream platform evolves.
  • Set and enforce data modeling standards, business logic ownership, and data quality frameworks so downstream consumers can trust and reuse supply chain metrics.
  • Help guide the architecture of AWS-hosted internal web applications and self-serve analytics tools built on top of the core data models, with a focus on performance, scalability, and usability.
  • Establish engineering standards for GitLab CI/CD, VS Code-based development, testing, and deployment, and mentor Data Engineer I–III team members on data modeling and self-serve enablement best practices.
  • Evaluate and integrate AI-assisted tools for development, data modeling, and analytics (for example AI-powered query assistants and natural language interfaces) to expand self-serve capabilities.
  • Act as the technical point of contact between supply chain leadership and engineering to keep models and self-serve tooling aligned to changing business needs.
  • Ensure comprehensive, reliable model and metric coverage across procurement, inventory, logistics, supplier performance, and manufacturing supply, addressing gaps and inconsistencies as the business scales.

Required qualifications

  • 6+ years building and operating production data pipelines and data models, including leading data modeling architecture decisions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Expert-level proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Deep experience with Databricks (or a comparable lakehouse platform) architecting large-scale, business-facing data models.
  • Proven experience partnering with or consuming from a centralized enterprise data platform team, including managing data contracts and adapting to upstream changes.
  • Strong AWS architecture experience (including S3, Lambda, Glue, ECS/EKS, RDS, API Gateway).
  • Proven experience with Git-based CI/CD workflows (GitLab preferred) and modern software engineering practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and lead cross-functional technical initiatives.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) due to access to export-controlled data.
