Job Description
Regions is hiring a Data Engineer to evaluate, design, and deliver operational and analytical data assets using AWS-friendly data engineering tooling and platforms.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Regions Technology teams to design, build, and maintain data-based structures and systems for Data and Analytics and Data Product use cases
- Build data pipelines to collect, organize, and store data within Regions’ big data environment
- Develop robust, testable programs for data movement, transformation, and loading using big data tools such as Spark
- Coordinate with Data Products Partners, Data Scientists, Data Management, Data Modelers, and other technical stakeholders to create strategic and tactical data stores
- Ensure each business use case receives data that is prepared, arranged, and ready
- Design and deploy frameworks and microservices that serve data assets to data consumers
- Align technical and non-technical stakeholders to convert customer needs into data design requirements and support high-quality visualizations and data stories while maintaining data quality and integrity
- Consult across the organization on how teams use data to make decisions
- Support automation of data products and assist team members with information delivery development
- Act as a trusted adviser to business leads: identify business needs and data opportunities, understand drivers of performance, interpret business case drivers, and help turn data into business value while supporting overall data and analytics strategy
- Ensure compliance with risk management programs, rules and regulations, and cybersecurity practices; identify process improvement opportunities and apply disciplined change management
Requirements
- Ph.D. plus 2 years of experience in a quantitative, analytical, or STEM field
- OR Master’s plus 4 years of experience in a quantitative, analytical, or STEM field, or a technical related field
- OR Bachelor’s plus 6 years of experience in a quantitative, analytical, or STEM field, or a technical related field
- 3 years of working programming experience in Python/PySpark, Scala, SQL
- 3 years of working experience in Big Data Technology in Hadoop, Hive, Impala, Spark, or Kafka

- Interpret and ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and industry guidance
- Build data solutions at scale
- Design and build relational data structures across multiple environments
- Knowledge of DevOps principles, CI/CD, and the Software Development Lifecycle
- Experience with No-SQL databases
- Experience with large-scale data Lakehouses at Enterprise scale
- Track record delivering operational Data solutions including Report and Model Ready Data Assets
- Significant experience working with senior executives using data, reporting, and visualizations for strategic and operational decision-making
- Strong ability to transform and integrate complex data from multiple sources into accessible, understandable, and usable data assets and frameworks
- Strong background synthesizing data and analytics in a large, complex, and highly regulated environment
- Strong technical foundation including database and business intelligence skills
- Strong communication skills through written and oral presentations
Position Details
- Exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and not eligible for overtime pay
- Onsite role with regular work hours; full days in the office three or more days per week
- No relocation assistance for this position; relocation would be at your expense
- Locations available: Birmingham, AL; Atlanta, GA; or Charlotte, NC
- No work visa sponsorship for this position at this time; applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Compensation
- USD 115,002 - 146,401 per year
- Job range target minimum: $115,002.20 USD
- Job range target median: $146,401.50 USD
- Incentive pay plans: opportunity to participate in the Long Term Incentive Plan
