Job Description
Meta is hiring a Data Engineer, Analytics (Ranking, AI) to design scalable data architectures and analytics solutions that power Ranking AI within the Ads stack. The role collaborates across engineering, data science, and product teams while upholding data security and governance. This onsite position in Menlo Park, CA offers a salary range of USD 177,000 to 247,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Own the data architecture for multiple large-scale projects, evaluating design options and cost-benefit tradeoffs within systems.
- Build and contribute to frameworks that improve the effectiveness of data logging; partner with data infrastructure to triage issues and resolve them.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to understand data needs and present key insights in meaningful visual formats.
- Define and manage Service Level Agreements for data sets in areas of ownership.
- Determine and implement security models aligned with privacy requirements; ensure safeguards, address data quality, and evolve governance processes within ownership areas.
- Design, build, and deploy collections of sophisticated data models and visualizations that support multiple use cases across different products or domains.
- Address complex data integration challenges using optimal ETL patterns, frameworks, and query techniques, sourcing data from both structured and unstructured sources.
- Assist in owning existing production processes and optimize code through advanced algorithmic concepts.
- Optimize pipelines, dashboards, frameworks, and systems to simplify the development of data artifacts.
- Influence product and cross-functional teams to identify data opportunities that drive impact.
- Mentor team members by giving and receiving actionable feedback.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience with SQL.
- Experience with ETL processes.
- Experience with data modeling.
- Experience with at least one programming language such as Python, C++, C#, Scala, or similar.

Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize workflows and drive measurable impact, such as efficiency gains or quality improvements.
- Ongoing AI skill development, including prompt engineering and agent orchestration, with ongoing familiarity with emerging AI technologies.
- Experience applying responsible, ethical AI practices, including risk assessment, bias mitigation, and quality and accuracy reviews.
- A master's or PhD in a STEM field, with coursework or research in data systems, machine learning, or related areas.
