Job Description

Vaco LLC is looking for a hands-on Data Engineer to help build and evolve a modern, centralized enterprise data platform. This role focuses on end-to-end ETL and data pipelines that turn raw data into trusted, structured datasets that support reporting, advanced analytics, and future AI applications. The position is based in New York, NY (onsite) with a salary of USD 150,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable end-to-end ETL and data pipelines
  • Ingest data from multiple internal and external sources
  • Clean, transform, validate, and structure large volumes of raw data into analytics-ready datasets
  • Work with varied data formats including Excel, CSV, JSON, ORC, and Parquet
  • Load and organize transformed data across database and data lake environments
  • Create scalable data models aligned to business and analytical requirements
  • Build the underlying data and semantic layers that power reporting and analytics
  • Help develop and expand a centralized enterprise data platform that supports datasets up to billions of rows
  • Prepare trusted data for downstream use across Power BI, advanced analytics, and future AI applications
  • Partner with business and technical stakeholders to understand how data should be structured and consumed

Required skills and experience

  • Strong, hands-on experience in data engineering and ETL
  • Demonstrated ability to personally design and build production data pipelines
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Experience with data transformation and data modeling
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets from multiple sources
  • Ability to convert messy or unstructured source data into clean, usable datasets
  • Experience with data lakes, databases, and modern data architectures
  • Ability to translate business data requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Comfort owning projects independently from requirements through implementation
