Job Description

At Tennr, this Data Engineering role sits at the center of how the company turns application and healthcare data into analytics-ready information. You will lead the end-to-end data engineering function, owning production pipelines into Snowflake and working directly on integrations with EHR systems to support internal teams.

This position is based in New York, NY (onsite) and offers USD 160,000 - 190,000 per year. You will bring 3+ years of data engineering experience to build reliable infrastructure, govern Snowflake, and explore new ways to extract value from unstructured clinical referral documentation.

What you’ll own

  • End-to-end data engineering: build and maintain production pipelines from Tennr’s application into Snowflake, with a focus on reliability and performance at scale.
  • EHR discovery and integration: lead initiatives across approximately 5–10 healthcare systems, understand available data and existing integrations, evaluate technical tradeoffs, and design creative solutions to extract and ingest data into Snowflake.
  • Snowflake platform ownership: architect instance setup, implement security best practices and governance, manage vendor relationships, and ensure zero data exposure.
  • Data modeling for internal analytics: design and implement data models that transform raw data into usable assets, then surface and safely share those assets across Tennr so internal teams can build their own analytics and tooling.
  • Monitoring and alerting: implement comprehensive monitoring to detect pipeline issues quickly and resolve them with minimal business impact.
  • Unstructured clinical referral insights: explore approaches to structure and extract insights from unstructured referral documentation, including AI-enabled models to unlock value from clinical text data.

What you’ll bring

  • 3–5 years of data engineering experience, with a strong track record building and maintaining scalable data pipelines and infrastructure.
  • Proven expertise with Snowflake and modern cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP, plus hands-on experience with data pipeline tools and orchestration frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare data such as claims and EHR systems, plus familiarity with data integration patterns, or the ability to quickly learn complex domain systems.
  • Healthcare-data security awareness, including best practices such as HIPAA considerations, data governance, and compliance (a strong plus).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working through complex, ambiguous integration challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical and healthcare topics to a diverse audience.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment and value diverse perspectives.
  • Prior experience in a startup or fast-paced tech environment is a plus.
