Data Engineer

Join Eaton as a Data Engineer in Carol Stream, IL (onsite) and help turn enterprise data into reporting and analytics that support day-to-day operations and operational decision-making. In this role, you will design and maintain data systems, build Power BI reporting, and partner with stakeholders and technical teams to improve data quality, accuracy, and usability.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise data solutions and database structures.
• Perform ETL to extract, transform, and load data from SAP, Oracle, and other business systems.
• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models for business operations and strategic decision-making.
• Create and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects within Oracle environments.
• Integrate and manage data from multiple sources to improve data accuracy, consistency, and accessibility.
• Collaborate with business leaders to identify reporting needs and translate them into technical solutions.
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, opportunities, and performance metrics.
• Build automated reporting processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
• Maintain data governance, security protocols, and data integrity across platforms.
• Support upgrades, testing, and implementation efforts involving SAP and Oracle applications.
• Document data processes, reporting standards, and technical specifications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues while providing ongoing support to end users.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• Minimum 1 year of experience with Oracle databases and SQL development (coop/internship experience accepted).
• Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.
• No relocation benefit is being offered. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of the facility will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service members are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Azure Data Services, Data Factory, or other cloud-based data platforms.
• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and best practices.
• Experience with advanced Power BI administration.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and enterprise reporting environments.
• Relevant certifications in Power BI, Oracle, SAP, or Data Engineering.
• Experience with SAP data structures, reporting, and data extraction processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, including dashboard development and data modeling.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, Power Query, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis functions.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
