Job Description

On-site Data Engineer supporting NORTHCOM at Agile Defense in Colorado Springs, holding a Top Secret clearance to design, develop, and deploy scalable AI-enabled data solutions and data pipelines within secure DoD environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and production deployment of scalable AI-enabled data solutions within the DoD's CDAO ADA IR program.
  • Architect and implement data pipelines, preprocessing workflows, feature engineering strategies, and ML services inside secure, containerized environments.
  • Collaborate with product managers, full-stack developers, platform engineers, and mission stakeholders to turn raw data into actionable insights and decision-support tools.
  • Operate in agile environments that prioritize reproducibility, testing, and continuous delivery.

Requirements

  • Clearance: Top Secret; must be cleared to start.
  • Education: Typically a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: 3+ years in data engineering or software engineering with proven ability to design and manage complex data pipelines, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Skills: Experience with data visualization and storytelling using Palantir MSS Workshop and Slate applications.

Education and Background

  • Education: Typically a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: 3+ years in data engineering or software engineering with demonstrated experience designing and managing complex data pipelines, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Equivalent experience: Equivalent relevant work experience may substitute for education requirements; for example, each year of work experience may substitute for a year of education.

Required Skills

  • Experience with data visualization and storytelling using Palantir MSS Workshop and Slate applications.

Preferred Skills

  • 4+ years of experience in applied data science, Palantir Foundry development, or data pipeline development.
  • Proficient in Python, SQL, and distributed data frameworks such as Spark, Databricks, and PySpark.
  • Experience developing ML models from training to deployment using libraries like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and XGBoost.
  • Familiarity with MLOps, API development, and secure cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and Palantir Foundry.
  • Strong data validation, model testing, and performance evaluation techniques.
  • Excellent technical communication skills for explaining complex concepts to non-technical audiences.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work onsite at a SCIF.
