Job Description

Data Engineer role focused on designing and implementing complex knowledge graph structures to support claims investigations and fraud detection using advanced graph analytics, with responsibilities spanning data engineering, ETL, DataOps, and cross functional collaboration; remote option in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • design and build sophisticated knowledge graph architectures to improve claims investigations and fraud detection through graph analytics
  • work with cross functional teams to enable data driven decision making and drive innovation
  • apply standard languages and frameworks across coding, testing, security, DevOps, DataOps and data engineering using graph database technologies
  • create and maintain reusable, scalable data solutions that comply with regulations across multiple platforms and compute environments
  • identify, acquire, cleanse, profile, and ETL data used for analytic discovery and production deployments across diverse platforms
  • develop domain understanding of existing State Farm data sources and assess, propose, and initiate acquisition of data resources (internal and external)
  • evaluate emerging technologies and critical core systems, advising on techniques, tools, data sources, and platforms in the data engineering space
  • handle datasets that include both structured and unstructured data
  • embrace a DataOps mindset to ensure data meets enterprise needs and automate delivery of high quality data solutions
  • collect and analyze customer requirements, propose solutions, and craft implementation and integration plans (including technical proposals)
  • oversee the analysis, design, deployment, support, and security of technology to efficiently manage data assets in line with best practices and regulatory requirements
  • apply advanced computer science principles to develop robust data engineering solutions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or a closely related field
  • At least five years of experience in the offered role or in similar positions such as Specialist Programmer, Machine Learning Engineer, or Graph Data Engineer
  • Five years of experience with graph database systems (Neo4j or Amazon Neptune) and Cypher query language
  • Five years of experience with distributed computing frameworks, including Apache Spark
  • Five years of experience with programming languages such as Python or Java, plus Scala
  • Five years of experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), including experience with Graph Algorithms Libraries and Neo4j GDS
