Job Description

Based onsite in Colorado, this Data Engineer role supports the United States Space Force in designing, developing, testing, and deploying defensive cyber capabilities. The position focuses on analyzing data infrastructure to create a data strategy roadmap, building data collection, storage, and analysis plans, and ensuring cross-functional collaboration to meet mission needs. The role offers a salary range of USD 107,900 to 195,050 per year and requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree with substantial relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assess current data infrastructure, landscape, and security posture to formulate a data strategy roadmap
  • Develop an executable action plan in a Microsoft tool for the U.S. Space Force
  • Create and maintain plans for data collection, storage, and analysis
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration by partnering with the Data Strategist to support data infrastructure and mission requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 6–10 years of relevant experience; additional years may substitute for a degree
  • Understanding of data security and access controls in alignment with DoD and Air Force Data Strategy policies and procedures
  • Experience designing and maintaining data architectures, models, schemas, and data warehouses
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI, with proven experience delivering executive-level operational reports and briefings
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to engage senior leaders
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work deeply with data
  • Understanding of organizational data governance
  • Familiarity with DoD and Air Force Data Strategy policies and procedures
  • General understanding of data analytics
  • Solid understanding of the data lifecycle and the layers required to process data from ingestion to visualization
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Grafana, Apache Superset, Tableau, and Power BI
