Data Engineer
Job Description
The Data Engineer role on the PV Global Brand Insights team at Amazon.com Services LLC focuses on building scalable data pipelines and generating insights to help Prime Video understand and deliver value to customers. This onsite position is based in New York, NY, with a salary range of USD 101,300 to 160,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Build and optimize data models and pipelines for complex global datasets
- Own ongoing data quality and provide self service access to datasets for business intelligence, AI tools, and Model Context Protocols (MCP)
- Improve metadata to enhance AI results
- Collaborate with research program leads, data scientists, business intelligence engineers, and other data engineers to maintain stable, high-performance data solutions
- Write secure, stable, testable, and maintainable code with minimal defects
- Apply appropriate data design approaches and balance trade-offs without over-engineering
- Optimize resource usage across systems, data storage, query performance, and AWS infrastructure
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and roadmap planning
- Resolve root causes of complex problems while balancing stakeholder requirements with team needs
- Stay current on innovations in the field, including ways AI can assist stakeholders in analyzing and visualizing data
- Develop and maintain automated reporting and dashboards to provide visibility into brand, marketing, and social performance and enable self-serve insights
Requirements
- 2+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
- Proficiency with at least one query language such as SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, SparkSQL, or Scala
- Proficiency with at least one scripting language such as Python or KornShell
- Foundational understanding of designing and implementing data schemas, including normalization and relational versus dimensional models
- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, architectures, code reviews, source control, continuous deployment, testing, and operational excellence
- Experience using BI tools (Tableau, Adobe) to visualize data
