Compiler Software Engineer
Job Description
Enhance Qualcomm compiler toolchain capabilities to improve performance and power efficiency across mobile and compute hardware.
Responsibilities
- Apply software engineering knowledge to processor architecture (DSP, CPU, NSP, microcontroller) and related debugging and recovery methods
- Use systems concepts such as scheduling, memory management, QoS, parallel execution, acceleration, and memory models to support application domains including gaming, image processing, virtual and augmented reality, machine learning, and modem
- Build and extend features in programming tools to help developers implement, debug, and optimize code for programmable cores (DSP, CPU, NSP, microcontroller)
- Assist with the design and development of industry-standard tooling such as debuggers, linkers, profilers, converters, and optimizers
- Support the creation of bit-exact functional simulators or timing-accurate simulators to enable off-target execution
- Help synthesize and run benchmarks across different applications
- Contribute to compiler toolchain design to compile code onto hardware architectures, including toolchains such as LLVM, GCC, MLIR, Halide, and TVM
- Apply mathematical techniques for programming languages, algorithms, and optimization to improve performance and power efficiency
- Use data structures and heuristics to make compilation tractable
- Apply Intermediate Representation (IR) concepts to surface optimization opportunities
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 1+ year of combined academic and/or work experience with compiler or tools

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: USD 104,500 - 156,700 per year
