Job Description

The CNC Machinist Developer role in Olathe, KS focuses on optimizing CNC machining processes for aerospace components, from setup through program testing, fixtures, tooling, and continuous improvement with cross functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Own CNC machining operations from setup through process optimization
  • Test, validate, and optimize CNC programs, fixtures, tooling, and machining processes
  • Review machine manuals and craft custom macros to support advanced operations
  • Load parts, operate CNC centers, inspect finished components, and perform deburring as needed
  • Work with Programming to refine cutting parameters and boost machining performance
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Operations to drive continuous improvements
  • Support launches of new production parts by implementing machining procedures and best practices
  • Troubleshoot machining issues, adjust parameters, and verify performance to OEM standards
  • Document process improvements, conduct root cause analysis, and propose corrective actions
  • Stay current with emerging machining technologies and recommend innovative manufacturing solutions
  • Maintain high quality standards while supporting Lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Contribute wherever needed to support production and team success

Requirements

  • Experience with CNC machining and process optimization
  • Ability to set and verify centerlines on 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machines
  • Strong troubleshooting and machining problem-solving skills
  • Basic understanding of G-Code (required)
  • Experience setting and adjusting boring heads
  • Probing knowledge is a plus
  • Right-angle head experience is a plus
  • Hard metal machining experience is a plus
  • Experience with Okuma OSP-300 and/or Fanuc controls is a plus
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience is preferred
