CNC Lathe Process Specialist & CAM Developer
Job Description
NN, Inc - USA invites applications for an onsite CNC lathe process specialist and CAM developer in Kentwood, MI to program, setup, operate, and maintain CNC equipment for automotive components, delivering cycle-time improvements while ensuring GD&T compliance and tool life, with compensation of USD 28-32 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Develop, adjust, and optimize CNC lathe programs to support production runs.
- Lead setup activities including tooling selection, fixture installation, and establishing machine and work offsets on lathes and related machining centers.
- Perform dry runs and complete first article inspections prior to releasing parts to production.
- Iteratively improve programs and parameters to shorten cycle times and maximize tool performance.
- Operate CNC equipment to meet production schedules and tight automotive tolerances.
- Interpret blueprints, GD&T callouts, and technical specifications to guide manufacturing.
- Conduct in-process quality audits using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMMs, and other metrology tools.
- Monitor processes to maintain dimensional accuracy and finish requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of CNC machining experience in a production setting.
- Fluent in reading blueprints, GD&T, and structured work instructions.
- G-code programming proficiency with CAM experience using Mastercam, Fusion 360, or Esprit.
- Hands-on experience operating CNC lathes.
- Knowledge of tooling, feeds and speeds, and common materials such as steel, aluminum, and castings.
