Job Description

This role is for a mid-level or senior C++ software engineer supporting a mission-focused maintenance application for defense operations. You will modernize legacy C++ systems, contribute to platform migration from Solaris to Linux/RHEL 64-bit, and support database and API integrations while working under an active Secret clearance.

Role Overview

As a C++ developer, you will analyze and enhance large-scale legacy codebases with limited documentation. The work includes migrating applications from Solaris 32-bit to Linux/RHEL 64-bit, maintaining and improving Oracle database integrations, and assisting with REST API integration efforts. Collaboration with architects, developers, and product stakeholders is part of the day-to-day responsibilities, using Agile processes.

Responsibilities

  • Modernize and enhance large-scale legacy C++ applications
  • Migrate applications from Solaris 32-bit to Linux/RHEL 64-bit environments
  • Analyze, maintain, and improve existing codebases with limited documentation
  • Develop and maintain Oracle database integrations
  • Write and enhance SQL queries, stored procedures, and associated business logic
  • Develop unit tests using Google Test
  • Follow established software development and engineering standards
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, PI planning, standups, and retrospectives
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, and product stakeholders
  • Support integration efforts involving REST APIs and modern application interfaces

Required Qualifications

  • Active Secret, Interim Secret, or recently held Secret clearance
  • 5+ years of software development experience for mid-level candidates, or 8+ years for senior-level candidates
  • Strong hands-on C++ development experience
  • Professional experience developing on Linux or Unix platforms
  • Experience working with legacy applications and modernization initiatives
  • Experience with Oracle databases
  • Strong SQL and stored procedure development experience
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments

Contract Details

  • Job type: Contract
  • Duration: 6-month contract with potential extension or conversion
  • Interview: One and done, 1-hour video interview
  • Clearance: Secret (Required)

Location and Work Model

  • Fort Worth, TX (5 days onsite)
  • Work location: In person
  • Relocation: Candidates open to relocation are welcome

Compensation

  • $70.00 to $95.00 per hour
